NEWS FROM PYRTON (MAY2016) by Jenny Lockwood
As I write, the final preparations for this year’s Pyrton Fete are in full swing and the weather forecast is for a warm and dry sunny day. Our thanks go to Karen and Henry for kindly offering us the use of their lovely garden at the Court House and for everyone who worked so hard to make the fete a success.
Next year’s fete will be on Saturday May 13th 2017!!
After many years of struggling with heavy small tables, profits from the fete have been used to purchase light but strong folding 3ft square tables. These will be available for hire through the Village Hall along with the folding brown chairs.
June and July are quiet months in Pyrton – a time for everyone to relax and recuperate and enjoy the summer weather. The Village Hall will be holding its AGM on Monday 30th June at 8pm. Sadly after more than 30 years of dedicated service, David Heath is retiring as Treasurer. We will be appointing a new Treasurer at the meeting – if you are interested in taking on this role please discuss with any member of the VH Committee. A big thanks goes to David for his hard work ensuring our financial affairs have been kept in perfect order.
Pub Nights are continuing to be held on the second Friday of every month. On June 10th why not come along and play a game of Aunt Sally (weather permitting) and on July 8th we are having the annual village BBQ- supper just £5. This year we have a change of venue – the BBQ is being held in the garden of Orchard House, home of Ed & Jo Baker. Everyone is welcome – you don’t have to live in Pyrton!! However it does help us plan the catering if we know in advance if you are coming. please contact Kath Gomm on 612939.
The summer rounders afternoon is on Sunday August 20th instead of the Pub Night. Another change of venue this year – the Rounders will take place at The Old Stables, the home of Tim & Steph Anders, with food provided but please bring your own drinks! More details to follow in the next Parish News.
